Keratosis Pilaris

Proper Care of Keratosis Pilaris is Important... to calm and soothe the skin and reduce the look of the bumps.

Keratosis Pilaris (KP) appears usually as white or reddish 'goose bumps' on the upper arms, cheeks, thighs or buttocks. KP is a common skin condition. It is caused by a protein in skin called 'keratin' which forms hard plugs within the hair follicles. Sometimes it is mistaken for acne. KP cannot be cured.

Moisturize with Pure Nutrients

The bumps of KP can feel rough and dry - just like goose bumps. Skin that becomes very dry can worsen the look of this condition. Therefore, it is important to keep the skin moisturized and nourished with pure nutrients, like a shield of protection. To maximally moisturize and nourish the skin, apply twice daily NEROLI Body Silkening Nutrient Crème to the affected body areas and RESTORE or ULTRA Moisturizers to the affected facial areas. For gentle yet effective facial cleansing, use PRIMESSE Essential Facial Cleanser, which is a mild, non-detergent facial cleanser that will not strip the skin of its essential moisture balance and keeps the skin balanced.

TIP: Showers are better than baths for KP. Hot soaking baths can cause the skin to become dry and should be avoided.

Replenish Vital Skin Nutrients

Antioxidants are nutrients that have been proven to be very effective to help reduce free radical damage that leads to aging signs. VITAPURE Ultra Antioxidant Nutrient Serum helps to minimize the aging effects and can also gently exfoliate the little surface bumps of Keratosis Pilaris, providing a much smoother skin surface on the face.

Exfoliate the Body & Body... to Reduce the Bumpy Look

To reduce the look of the bumps for the face, apply a small amount of MINERAL DERMA-SCRUB and gently exfoliate the affected KP areas once a week. Use a minimal amount of pressure.

For the body only, when showering, use a mild or organic shampoo to cleanse the affected areas. Then once a week, take a loofah to the areas and gently rub. This helps reduce the look and feel of the bumps. Be GENTLE - too much pressure can potentially irritate the condition. Pat dry and apply a generous amount of NEROLI Body Silkening Nutrient Crème.

Don't Pick & Be Gentle with the Bumps

Picking can lead to redness, irritation and bleeding and may result in scarring. Wear loose clothing if the bumps rub on your clothing so you are not tempted to scratch.
